PUNJAB IN THE GRIP OF DRUG ABUSE

Are these the things that are making the state of Punjab famous nowadays?

I don’t think so!

The state where the roots of GREEN REVOLUTION were laid, which then changed the lives of the people of Punjab and made India stand on her feet in terms of the indigenous quantity of food grains, is now just making headlines for the extent to which the disease of the drug has tightened its grip on it.

 DRUG ABUSE

What is a drug?

The drug is just a medical condition which makes individuals habitual to it. It is just a death trap which when encountered with is a very difficult thing to leave. And the state of Punjab is in the trap of this deadly disease.

You know who are getting affected by it; it is the youth, the future generation of our country. According to a report at this time, more than 70% of the youth is under the influence of this drug menace. It is leaving no one from students to job seekers everyone is being a victim of this. But, a question arises how did it get to such a huge extent.

 You would be shocked to know that it is just the result of a few factors and they are:

• Depression
• Unemployment
• Addiction
• Influence of the entertainment industry
• Loneliness
• The feeling of inferiority /superiority
• Social disconnect
• Peer pressure and many more

Why is it affecting the youth more than anyone else?

We all know that adolescence is a period that changes the total perspective towards life; it may have a good effect or a bad one. It depends on what sort of a relationship does your child has with you. I want to tell that in today’s world the innocent child is exposed to so many things that simply by being a mother or father you can’t take proper care of your child, you need to put in more efforts because the child is already under great confusion what is happening with his/her body. There is an ocean of emotions, desires, and confusions. And these all push a child into the trap of drug cycle.

 DRUG ABUSE

I expect a shocking reaction from you after knowing that these supplies of drugs are made from across the border and according to the sources mainly these are manufactured in Afghanistan and are sent via Pakistan and China. Firstly, they are sold at a cheaper rate and are described as a magical healer, one that takes you into a fantasy world; so as to make an individual habitual of it and later these innocent individuals get the addiction of this deadly disease. I don’t understand why they want to destroy the youths of our country; what hidden motive do they have?  Pakistan just wants to destroy India in every aspect and for that thing, so-called powerful China is providing them with funds.

                       There have been many cases where the addicted victims have committed suicide either due to not getting the required amount of drugs or just an hallucination. Many reports show that in the effect of drugs individuals have committed many crimes like theft, assaults, suicide, etc., many families have been ruined and many parents have lost their children in the influence of this deadly disease. There is a shocking revelation that on daily basis drugs worth Rs. 2000 crores are smuggled 

DRUG ABUSE

Many measures are being taken to combat this disease: the government has opened many relief centers, but no one actually knows what is going on inside them. The government is taking every possible step that they can; they have even made it compulsory to have a dope test before getting a government job in any sector in Punjab.

You know only the government can’t do anything. If we really want our country to get from it, then we should emphasise our center to take some revolutionary steps like other countries.

I want to end it with a question:  ARE WE PAYING A PRICE FOR OUR GENUINITY??
